Intermodal Motor Carriers

Implementation and Testing

The carrier will be required to test each transaction with the VAN and UPDS systems to ensure the EDI transmissions are in compliance to our specifications and the X12 EDI standards.

Contact the Value Added Network (VAN)
Our Value Added Network (VAN) must be contacted to setup a preliminary test. This test will ensure that your transmissions are in compliance to our specifications and the X12 standards.

  1. Perform EDI application testing with UPDS
Once you have completed the preliminary test with the VAN, the Manager of Electronic Commerce at UPDS, will contact you to inform you of the application testing schedule. Once the schedule has been determined, you will receive a test load tender from UPDS. The 214 data that you generate from the test load tender will be sent to UPDS for final verification before implementation.
  2. Implement EDI process into the production environment
You will be notified by the Manager of Electronic Commerce at UPDSwhen you will be expected to send and receive production EDI data.
